About QFitout

QFitout is for drylining and interior fitout contractors in the UK who price and run their own jobs. Our aim is to put you in control of your own numbers, so you're not waiting on someone else to work out your materials before you can quote.

We make free guides and document templates now, and we're building quoting software for partitions, MF ceilings, suspended grid ceilings, wall lining and shaftwall.

Why we started

QFitout came out of years in sales at a building materials supplier. A contractor asked a simple question: "Don't you have a system to do that for you?" He meant the materials calculations he was doing by hand for every quote.

A basic calculator was built in-house, but it couldn't be given to customers. So contractors kept doing the maths themselves late at night, or waited for someone else to do it and had to trust figures they couldn't see the workings for. That meant waiting to quote, and the risk of a job priced on quantities that come up short.

QFitout puts that work back in the contractor's hands: your measurements, your specs, your rates, and quantities you can check line by line.

What's available now

Free resources:

Document packs:

  • Drylining Contractor Quote Pack, £14.99: quote template, variation order form, daywork record sheet and confirmation of verbal instruction (CVI)

  • Drylining Business Operations Kit, £39.99: RAMS, subcontractor agreement, site handover certificate, defects and snagging notice, material order form and log, weekly job planner and a comms swipe file

Every template is a Word file with a filled-in example, so you can see how it's meant to be used before you add your own details.

What we're building

QFitout is also drylining quoting software. It isn't released yet. It's being built to:

  • Turn your measurements and chosen specs into quantities, apply waste allowances, and use your own rates for materials and labour to produce a professional quote you can send to a client.

  • Produce a clear material order from the same job for your supplier, with your details, the site address and the quantities.

  • Use product details from manufacturers' own technical literature, such as datasheets and system manuals. If a spec you've picked goes beyond the manufacturer's published limits, for example a partition taller than the recommended height, the app shows a warning with the source so you can check it.

  • Work on site with no signal, on your phone or your laptop.

Getting an accurate, professional quote back to a client quickly gives you a better chance at the job, and helps you come across as a professional, established business. We can't promise more work or more money. We can make the quoting and ordering side quicker and easier to get right.

The warnings are an extra check only. You stay responsible for checking specifications, heights and quantities with the manufacturer, and against your project's requirements, before you order or build. The app won't flag every possible issue.

How we write our guides

Our guides use published sources: HMRC for CIS, the HSE and the regulations themselves for health and safety, JCT guidance for contract paperwork, and manufacturer technical literature for materials. Each guide page lists its sources.

Our templates are starting points, and every contract and site is different, so check them against your own job before you use them.
